Canada Corporation Registry

Privacy policy

What personal information this site shows and keeps, why, and how to have it corrected or removed.

Last updated Oct 29, 2026

In short

  • No accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
  • Directors' names and addresses for service appear because the federal record makes them public. They are kept out of search engines and removed from this site on request, for free.
  • A request you send is kept only to answer it and to record what we changed.

Who is responsible

Canada Corporation Registry (canadacorporationregistry.ca) is responsible for the personal information described here. For a question about it, or to ask for a correction or a removal, use the request form.

Directors on the public record

A federal corporation's page lists its directors as Corporations Canada's record shows them: each director's name and the address for service they gave, which may be a business address rather than a home. The law makes this public so that anyone can see who is responsible for a corporation, and Canada's private sector privacy law allows information from a public registry like this one to be used for a purpose that relates directly to why it is in the registry.

To keep to that purpose:

  • Directors are shown only on their own corporation's page and in a search for a director's name. There is no page for a person.
  • A company page links each of its directors to the other corporations on record with a director of the same name. Because two people can share a name, it says which links the address for service confirms, and for a common name it lists only those.
  • Director searches, the directors on company pages and their links to other corporations are kept out of search engines, so a search for someone's name on Google does not lead here.
  • Names and addresses are only ever what the federal record shows, checked at most a week apart. A director the record no longer lists drops off.
  • No person is taken from the other sources this site uses (charities, grants, permits, lobbying and the rest).

Your own details. If you are a director, we will take your address, or your name and address, off this site within 30 days of your request, for free. They stay on the federal record, which the law keeps public; to change that record, the corporation files the change with Corporations Canada (how to report a change of directors).

When you visit

  • There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking or analytics cookies.
  • If you choose the light or dark theme, the choice is kept in your own browser and never sent to us.
  • A company page counts how many times it was opened each day, as a number only, to list the most viewed corporations. Nothing about who opened it is kept with that number.
  • To see how the site is used, it counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare designs to work without cookies and without following anyone from site to site. It reports pages viewed, the site a visitor came from, the type of browser and device, and the country, in totals, not as a record of any one person.
  • The words you search for are used to answer the search and are not stored.
  • Like any website, the site is delivered by a hosting service (Cloudflare), which handles your IP address and browser details to send pages and to stop attacks, under its own privacy policy. It may process them outside Canada.

Requests you send us

When you send a correction or removal request, we keep what you write in the form: the topic, the page, your name, your email address and your message. A copy is emailed to us when it arrives, so we see it promptly and can reply to you directly. We use them only to answer you and to keep a record of what we changed. We keep a request, and its email copy, for up to two years after we close it, then delete it.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we share it only with the hosting service that runs the site and the email service that delivers our copy of a request, or when the law requires us to.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to remove it from this site, through the request form. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (opens in a new tab).
